New (and some old) favorites

Junior’s Favorites!
Alright, it’s summer and in between camp, vacation, and the pool we know there is plenty of time for reading! We know not reading is really tempting this time of year just don’t forget books are portable. You can take them with you AND enjoy the great outdoors!
Anyway, Paul and I thought we would go ahead and compile a summer must-read list for our readers.

Let’s start with teen fiction (in no particular order)

 Long Lankin
by Lindsey Barraclough
Summer is the perfect time of year to tackle a super scary supernatural story. Long Lankin is sure to give goose bumps. An instant favorite.

Shadow and Bone
by Leigh Bardugo
A completely unique tale of darkness and light, love and madness, power and greed. Plus the author will be visiting Square Books Junior, on October 19th as a part of the Fall Fierce Read Tour!

Monument 14
by Emmy Laybourne
Natural disasters raging across the globe strand 14 kids in a superstore. This action packed debut by Emmy Laybourne will have you on the edge of your seat and dying for the next installation.

There is No Dog
by Meg Rosoff
This is one clever novel. It’s laugh out loud funny and smarter than I am (maybe not Paul) Warning, we give this one ages 16+ label.

Under the Never Sky
by Veronica Rossi
Blow your mind, epic start to a series. A strong female heroine (think Katniss from The Hunger Games or Katsa from Graceling) plus a knee-weakening romance.

Grave Mercy
by Robin LeFevers
A cult of female assassins for Death. Really, do I have to say anything else?

Daughter of Smoke and Bone
by Laini Taylor
A beautiful love story with a very powerful female character and a decidedly unique mythology.

Come by and see us for more recommendations and stay tuned for more favorites.
